I've watched Barb and her fellow printmakers experimenting with techniques in their Friday morning sessions at the Kingston School of Art for a good many years. I am fascinated with their creativity and skills.

I love the motion she conveys in this aerial image . You can imagine yourself lazily rowing yourself down the stream. Simple, but conveys a fond summer memory.

In "Old Friends", a relief print she again teases us with the possibility of enjoying a relaxing moment in those yellow chairs under a warm spring sun in a secluded garden. A quiet place to enjoy a tea or cup of coffee !

Watercolour

I love the way Barb uses the path and stairs to invite you into this charming rural home. Negative painting in the trees and the ground contain interesting abstract shapes to look at and hold the composition together.

Collage

Barb's collage pieces are some of my favourites.  In Summer Woods #5, she creates wonderful depth by layering and adding her own paper designs to the graceful trees in the foreground. You want to enter the woods to catch a glimpse of what lies beyond.

In the collage above Barb has painstakingly created a feast for your eyes. Little images that beg you to linger and take in the details. The path through the image is peaceful and tranquil encouraging you to spend some time there.
