My art appeals to those who are passionate about rich bold colour.  If you are drawn to the feelings of joy, energy and beauty,  take a moment to explore my work.

If you have looked at my art and photography, flowers play a huge part in my imagery. I have always wondered why .

As a child, during the spring, summer and fall, I spent a lot of time outdoors. This gave me an opportunity to spend endless hours exploring and enjoying the world around me. Although I lived in a city, I was very attuned to the seasons, their sights, sounds and smells. Being a very visual person, who loves colour, the bold colours of flowers , that each season offered was very appealing. When you are outside, alone for periods of time you have the opportunity to interact with nature with all your senses; the touch of a velvety iris, the smell of lilacs and roses, the grandeur of sunflowers, even in more adventurous times the taste of a flower petal.

When I am outdoors, I am in awe of the beauty that surrounds me. Life in many instances can be hectic and busy. Being in nature centres me, invigorates me and also calms me at the same time.

As an artist, I am fascinated by the lines, abstract shapes, patterns and transition of colours and light in nature. I also want to bring beauty to life. So many things  can be ugly, divisive and unkind.

This brings me to 10x10=100. In the next year, I hope to create 100 images that are 10x10 inches. The square format itself presents a challenge in composition.  I will use digital and traditional methods to develop the theme.

Below is my first image for the project. Cascade of Lilacs. The second a work in progress is Anemone Allure. As I develop more I will keep you posted.
