Crashing onto the Rocks

Crashing onto the Rocks

When I start a painting, I usually have no idea where it will end up.

That can be really scary and frustrating but is a great way to discover new things that you like and not like.

This acrylic abstract started that way. Suddenly I began to see waves appearing through the many rich layers of paint.

I decided to go with the flow (sick pun) and added marks and shapes that would support that feeling of forceful energy.

Since I am enamoured with the central California coast during the winter months, it doesn’t surprise me that this is where my painting led me.

I have left it on an easel for the last few weeks. As I walked by and glanced at it, I asked myself if there is anything else it needs.

At this point it is ready to go out into the world. It needs its sides painted and a finishing coat.

Then it will be ready to be introduced to seascape admirers .

Stay tuned for its release in the next few weeks
